Our 2026 conference theme is

Equity Without Borders: Creativity, Access, and Advocacy.

We are looking forward to seeing colleagues and friends online for our conference! 

Conference Dates: November 14 - 16, 2026

(Please note that any pre-conference workshops will be offered online on November 14th.) 

We invite you to submit your proposals for:

Pre-conference experientials/workshops
(3 hour, in-depth experiential or workshop)

Creative intervention fair submissions
(30 minute experiential intervention for use in a counseling or supervision session)

Online creative presentations
(50 minute experientials or workshops).

Proposals will be accepted through April 26, 2026.

Early bird tickets will be available May 8th, 2026.

The following are the available grants, emerging leader positions, and awards:

  • To support research that increases understanding of the use of creativity in counseling. Grants are for new research projects only; not completed projects. Grant award amount: $250. Must present grant research at ACC conference and acknowledge ACC's financial support with research dissemination.

  • A position for a master's-level student in the field of counseling who is an ACC member interested in learning more about leadership within ACC. This role allows one to become an active and contributing member of ACC while receiving mentorship and developing leadership skills for the future of ACC. Will be mentored throughout the first year in the program and will then step into the role of transitional mentor for a new emerging leader the following year.

  • A position for a doctoral student in the field of counseling who is an ACC member interested in learning more about leadership within ACC. This role allows one to become an active and contributing member of ACC while receiving mentorship and developing leadership skills for the future of ACC. Will be mentored throughout the first year in the program and will then step into the role of transitional mentor for a new emerging leader the following year.

  • A position for a practicing professional in the field of counseling who is an ACC member interested in learning more about leadership within ACC. This role allows one to become an active and contributing member of ACC while receiving mentorship and developing leadership skills for the future of ACC. Will be mentored throughout the first year in the program and will then step into the role of transitional mentor for a new emerging leader the following year.

  • Recognizes an individual whose example, encouragement, and inclusive practice inspire and motivate others to use creativity in its various forms in counselor education and clinical practice. Key aspects: humility, collaboration, creativity for service, nourishing connections, and cooperation.

  • Recognizes someone whose vision and innovation have advanced the practice of counseling and counselor education by discovering and promoting creative interventions and resources through innovative and collaborative practice, publication or leadership. Key aspects: vision, creativity, and passion.

  • Recognizes an ACC member who consistently demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the values of ACC to promote counseling approaches that support mutually supportive, positive, growth-fostering relationships, to researching/defining relational competencies that reflect this, and embodies ACC's spirit.

  • Honors a counselor in full-time clinical practice who demonstrates consistent commitment to implementing creative interventions in a counseling setting (with clients, supervisees, and/or colleagues).

  • Honors outstanding service to ACC and to the promotion of creativity in counseling practice. Consistent with the mission of ACC, the nominee promotes greater awareness, advocacy, and understanding of creativity in counseling and advances creative, diverse, and relational approaches to counseling.

  • Recognizes an outstanding ACC master's student member who has participated in promoting creative, diverse, and relational approaches to counseling or whose scholarship promotes creative, diverse, and relational expression in counseling. Must be a master's student at the time of the conference.

  • Recognizes an outstanding ACC doctoral student member who has participated in promoting creative, diverse, and relational approaches to counseling or whose scholarship promotes creative, diverse, and relational expression in counseling. Must be doctoral student by the time of the annual conference.

Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC) has been  approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education  Provider, ACEP No. 1028. (All online/virtual play therapy CEs will be awarded as non-contact credit/CE hours. Please note that play therapy credit/CEs may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.)
